The Lived Experience Advisory Board is an assembly of people who have directly experienced homelessness in their lifetime, some currently and others in the past. The aim of this group is to be able to learn the system of service that has been implemented by the Santa Clara County Continuum of Care (“CoC”) in order to provide feedback from the consumer’s perspective.
Through this process Board members are able to develop a skill set that will allow them to help their peers navigate the road to successful housing opportunities. Working closely with the CoC staff, members are provided with the latest relevant data, allowing what has been learned to be disseminated and used out in the field quickly. Lastly, members engage civic organizations, government representatives, church/student/youth groups in order to dispel misconceptions the public may have about homelessness.
